The Real Problem
We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology.

E. O. Wilson

Those emotions run on a 200,000-year-old nervous system, built for occasional danger, not constant modern stimulation. Regulation is the ability to access the right state at the right time. It decides how much it costs to run ancient wiring in a world it was never built for.

What This Is About

Powerful and playful.

Breathwork is a physical and mental practice to regulate the nervous system. It is used to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and physical recovery, and bring a group together through a shared sensory experience. Our sessions combine intense and passive breathing, breath holds and tailored music.

The Format

A 90-minute group session.

Movement to open the system, guided breathwork lying down, and time to integrate. Crafted so participants connect deeply with themselves and with each other.

Movement 10 minBreathwork 65 minIntegration 15 min
01

Movement

10 min

A short movement flow designed to stimulate and stretch the nervous system, with a few torsions and alignments.

02

Breathwork

65 min

Lying-down guided breathing.

  • 10 minOne relaxation round, cardiac coherence
  • 35 minTwo or three rounds of low to medium to high-intensity breathing
  • 20 minOne final rest
03

Integration

15 min

Making it stick.

  • 5 minAn overview of the scientific knowledge to date
  • 10 minJournaling on a postcard, to be sent to yourself
After the session

Every participant gets free access to recorded breathwork sessions, to keep exploring the practice at different levels of intensity and duration.

How It Works

Two principles.

Like other breathwork based on hyperventilation and breath holds, the session follows two main principles.

01

Nervous system activation

By exciting the nervous system in a controlled setting, we train to get comfortable in high-intensity situations. We also train the switch from sympathetic to parasympathetic activation, our natural resting mode.

Excitement and anxiety feel the same in the body; only the narrative differs. Getting familiar with high excitement makes us less likely to freeze, fight or flee at the next stressor.
02

CO2 tolerance

CO2 is fundamental in our physiology for carrying oxygen around. But too much perceived CO2 can make the body react as if there were too much, which can induce panic and anxiety.

Breath holds after hyperventilating phases train the body not to overreact when small changes occur in our chemistry.

By experiencing high nervous system excitement, adrenaline release and better CO2 tolerance, we cope better with discomfort and stressors, and become less reactive to our environment.
